Jay Johnston

Jay joined the staff of FBC Covington in January 2009. He is a native of New Orleans and is a graduate of LA College with a B.S., New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.Div. and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with D.Min. He has served churches in Louisiana, Florida and Tennessee. He also served for twenty years with LifeWay Christian Resources (formerly called the Baptist Sunday School Board.) He is married to Jerilyn Gaspard Johnston and they have two sons Grady and Jody. Grady is married to Ann and is a pastor in Virginia. Jody is a student at Liberty University.
Clif Smith

Clif has extensive experience in ministry, having served since 1973. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He is not new to Louisiana, having served at Trinity Baptist in Lake Charles from 1998 to 2002. His most recent experience was at FBC, Atlanta, GA, where he led the Education Ministry. Both Clif and his wife, Elaine, are native Texans. They have been blessed with four daughters, Amy, Emily, Jessie and Paige.
David Rockett
Minister of Adults 55+ and Pastoral Care

David came to FBC in 1980. He has served in several capacities including work with youth, music, and senior adults. He began his current area of ministry in June of 1999. David graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana with a degree in Music Education and earned a Master of Church Music degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. David and his wife, Linda, are the proud parents of a son, Thomas, and a daughter, Laura.
Glynn Robinson

Glynn is from Meridian, Mississippi. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. Glynn began his ministry at First Baptist church in 1997. He is married to Melinda of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. They are the parents of two daughters, Mollie and Mary Landrum, and a son, Will.
Bill Boren

Bill Boren serves as our Family Life Pastor. He joined the staff of FBC Covington in May 2006. He has been in student and family ministry since 1993, while serving churches in Louisiana, Florida, and Mississippi. He is a graduate from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry. Both originally from Meridian, MS, Bill and his wife Jill enjoy raising their twin daughters, Halle and Hannah and their youngest daughter, Harper.
Josh Jordan

Josh is from Sulphur Springs TX. He Joined the staff in June of 2007. Josh has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion with a minor in Psychology from East Texas Baptist University. Currently he is pursuing a master’s of divinity in seminary at NOBTS. Josh has worked in Student ministry for the last 12 years. Josh and his wife, Leslie, have been married for 2 years and enjoy serving together in the collegiate and young professionals ministry at FBC.
Darlene Drivon
Preschool Minister

Darlene Drivon was born in Marion County, Mississippi, She has been a member of FBC since 1984. Since March 1994 she has been the employed Preschool Staff Coordinator. Darlene and her husband, Harold, Sr., are the proud parents of three children Jennifer, Harold Jr., and Felicia. They have two grandchildren, James and Elizabeth. Darlene graduated with a certificate in Preschool and Children’s Ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2000 and received an advanced certificate in May 2004.
Robert Hargrove
Worship Pastor

Robert is originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is a graduate of Anderson University in Anderson, SC where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. He taught music in the upstate of SC while serving as Worship Pastor at two church starts from 2001-2005. Before joining the staff at First Baptist Covington he was the College Minister and Student Worship Leader at FBC Spartanburg. Robert is married to Grace of Spartanburg, SC. They feel blessed to be lead worshippers together in ministry. They have four children three boys Cash, Aylor, Bray and their daughter, Rollyn.
Jason Brooks

Jason, originally from Grenada, Mississippi, joined our staff in April of 2009 as Minister of Music & Worship. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s degree in Music (vocal performance), as well as New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a M.A.C.E. degree in youth and church music. Over the last 13 years, Jason has served in various student and worship ministry positions in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana, as well as with Lifeway Centrifuge camps around the country. His wife, Capri, is a native of Meridian, Mississippi, and is finishing a PhD in school counseling. They join us after serving at a church in Meridian for the past 4 years and are excited to be part of the FBC Covington family.
Kevin Harless
Children’s Pastor

Kevin is from Panama City, Florida. He is our Children’s Pastor and has been ministering to First Baptist Covington children since 2009. He is a graduate of Marshall University with a degree in Mass Communications with specialization in advertising. He is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Kevin and his wife Tiffany have been blessed with the challenge of raising three daughters, Chloe, MacKenzie, and Gracie.
Shane Booker
Minister to Students

Shane is from Panama City, FL where he has served in student ministry since 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry from the Baptist College of Florida. He plans to pursue his Masters of Divinity from NOBTS. Shane and his wife, Jessica were married in 2005. Together they have a son named Carson. Shane and Jessica look forward to serving the students and their families at FBC Covington in the coming years.
