There’s one thing we all have in common–we all want a better life.
While everyone might define a better life differently, we all want our lives to be better.
What can we do to make our lives better?
First, we can get on the same page with God. God wants you and me to have blessed lives.
As I read through the Old Testament I am constantly reminded that God wants to bless. The problem is that when we reject God and His ways we also reject His blessing.
It’s much like closing a door. When we close the door on God, we close the door on His blessing. If we get on the same page with God, we will see a multitude of blessings in our lives.
Second, we can access the power of God. Mother Theresa famously said that if spend time praising Jesus every morning you will have all the power you need for the day.
I fear that we don’t really access the power of God available to us. Do you really pray? Have you asked for the guidance of the Holy Spirit? Have you sought obedience and holiness?
It seems we try to live our lives the way we want without consulting God.
You can make your life much better by seeking God’s power and allowing Him to lead.
Finally, we can make Scripture a major portion of our lives. Scripture shows us what matters to God and how God wants us to live.
I know this is elementary, but it is true. God created humans. He knows what we need in life. He gave us Scripture to direct our lives.
We teach this to children; adults need to learn it as well. “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105), and “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:12).
We can have better lives. May it be so.
