I Need Prayer

prayer11Prayer is generally considered the most common of the spiritual disciplines and the most difficult. You would think prayer would be the easiest. After all, we teach our children to pray. Have you heard a very small child pray? They pray naturally to a loving heavenly Father. I need to do the same. I need prayer.

“Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches, finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”–Matthew 7:7-8.

“Right along with letting the Bible become your staple in your daily diet, prayer will open your life to ongoing fellowship with God and keep you going all day long. Developing an attitude of prayer will change your from an aimless wanderer to a mighty warrior”–The Gift: The New Testament for New Believers.

“Prayer is not trying to get God to something He doesn’t want to do. Prayer is getting us to do what we don’t want to do. He intends to do His will through us, and in us. Prayer prepares us to be used, and to pray, ‘Use Me!’ “–Dave Butts.

Prayerless people gaze at the clock and the calendar. Their joy is sapped by constantly trying to discern between what is truly important and what is merely urgent. Prayerful people eventually find peace in knowing God is never late, always on time, but seldom early. This lesson is not learned overnight”–Gary Miller.

“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or afraid”–John 14:27, HCSB.
