It’s Time to Pray

Live Prayer Here!

By Waylon Bailey.

It’s time to pray, and I hope you are praying a lot. I also hope you are praying fervently, diligently, and specifically.

Over the last year or so, I’ve reconnected with the hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” I’ve particularly thought about the phrase, “What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”

It is a privilege to pray. It’s a blessing to take everything to God in prayer. It’s Scriptural as well. Paul told the Philippian believers to be anxious about nothing and prayerful about everything (Philippians 4:6).

It’s also a privilege to pray for your friends and your friends’ friends. As Samuel gave his farewell speech to the people of Israel, they asked him to pray to the Lord for them. Samuel replied, ” As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you” (1 Samuel 12:23).

Would you pray specifically by name for the people around you who are hurting? People need the Lord, and they know they need the Lord.

I’ve seen one other time in my life when people specifically sought me out to pray, sometimes strangers and sometimes people who I never would have thought they needed or wanted to pray. That was when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Greater New Orleans area.

Today, people want to pray. Would you pray for people who are sick? For the grieving? For front line people in the medical field and for people stocking shelves and a myriad of other jobs that really are vital to our world?

Our church will have a prayer time Thursday, April 16, at 8:00 PM. You can participate from any where in the world at But you don’t have to pray with others. You can pray when you arise and when you lie down and anytime in between.

Not only will you bless other people by praying for them, you will be blessed by coming into the presence of God.

For me, the most wonderful thing about prayer is being with Jesus.

It’s time to pray.
