Lagniappe: Becoming like Christ

For over a year, our teaching focus has been the goal of the Christian life: “to be like Christ.”

Paul encouraged us to take on the mind of Christ. He told us “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus“ Philippians 2:5

He then described the willingness of Christ to become human flesh, and to dwell among us. Christ humbled Himself.

What does humility look like?

It looks like the words of Jesus in Luke 6:27-31 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

The world insults, mistreats, and steals. It lies and refuses to forgive.

Here is a basic teaching I would give from all of this: God does not want his children to act like Satan‘s children.

Let us take on the mind of Christ and become like Him
