Lagniappe: 3:16 on 3/16

Today (Sunday) is March 16, 2025, or 3/16/25. Someone recognized the similarities of 3/16 and 3:16, particularly John 3:16. Since John 3:16 is the first verse that most people memorize in Scripture, and since it is the plan of God for the salvation of people in one sentence, they encouraged us to preach from John 3:16 on this weekend. I pray that this day and this verse will be a blessing for your life.

We recognize that many of you are our guests for the day, and we are thankful to have you with us.

John 3:16 has meant much to us, and we have been praying that it will mean much to you as well.

Therefore, this is what we would like for everyone to do today.

First, let God‘s Word and the Spirit of God show you what He would have you to do. God has a specific purpose for our lives. For example, we know that He desires that no one should perish, but that all should come to the knowledge of the truth. That happens when we read and meditate on Scripture and when we seek God’s leading for our lives in prayer. I would encourage you to ask God in prayer what He would have you to do.

Second, if you are already a follower of Christ, would you use today to make a fresh start with God? What would be God‘s desire for your next step?

Third, would you look at how God wants you to serve Him both in the church and in the community? God desires our obedience and service. Let us let this weekend be a time when we grow closer to Christ and serve Him in ever greater ways.

Fourth, I want to ask you to take one more step. Would you sincerely consider joining one of our Saturday/Sunday small group Bible studies that we call Connect Groups? These groups serve as opportunities to learn Scripture, meet friends, and minister to other people. They are vital to the work and ministry of God’s church.\

I want to thank all of you who are new to us for coming today, and I want to thank all of you who invited someone to come.

May God use this day for His glory and for our blessing.
