What Jesus Does for Me Right Now

nofearI still remember the profound impact this challenge made on me, “Tell me what it is Jesus does for you right now?”

People without Christ – – maybe even people who know Christ – – want to know what it is that Jesus does for us day by day and right this moment. What we know about people without Christ is that they worry about life before death as well as life after death.

Let me share with you the answer to the question about what Jesus does for me right now.

When I give my Christian testimony, I mention two areas among very many where knowing Jesus blesses my life immensely.

This is what Jesus does for me right now.

First, knowing Jesus means I am not alone. As I look back over my life, I have never known a time of being alone. I have certainly been lonely and I know what it is to want the company of other people, but I have never been forsaken and alone.

When I asked Jesus into my life, He came to stay. God’s Holy Spirit has always been present with me, even when my life was not all I wanted it to be.

Second, knowing Jesus means I have hope. I have never known a time when I felt hopeless. I have recognized that as long as there is Jesus in my life, there is hope.

Therefore, right now Jesus is with me. I cannot get away from the presence of the Lord. I am eternally grateful for that truth.

The Psalmist recognized the same truth. “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” (Psalm 139:7-10).

Right now, I have hope for my future and for the future of God’s kingdom because Jesus is in charge and is working the world to a grand conclusion.

What else does Jesus do for me right now?

He gives me guidance and wisdom. He leads me in paths of righteous living. He blesses me with the fellowship of other believers. He calls me “son.”

I am being immeasurably blessed by what Jesus is doing for me right now.
