Women's Bible Study
Swaddled in Love

Do you ever feel lonely, invisible, and left to deal with the stresses of life on your own? You’re not alone. Many women share those same feelings. Swaddled in Love, based on the Gospel of Mark, is about Jesus – the gentle, loving, kind and compassionate Jesus, the One who sees you and cares about the deepest concerns of your heart. Rather than feeling lonely and invisible, He wants you to feel “swaddled in love.”

The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church Covington exists to serve Jesus Christ by equipping the women of our church and community through Bible Study, Prayer, Discipleship, Evangelism, Missions, and Fellowship so each woman may grow and mature in her personal walk with Jesus Christ. We pray that God will use this ministry to strengthen our women in their homes, at work, and in the church.

Our desire for Women's Ministry is that every woman would know Christ and grow in her relationship with Him. The ministry is based on the Apostle Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 2:15 – “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” Just as a sweet fragrance never goes unnoticed as it permeates a room, we want the women of FBC to live in a way that will have an undeniably positive impact on those around them. We want this ministry to strengthen our women so they exemplify Christ in every aspect of their lives.

Women’s Ministry provides a multi-faceted program to equip the women of our church and community to serve Jesus Christ through:

• Prayer
• Evangelism
• Fellowship
• Bible Study
• Discipleship
• Missions

Finding a Bible study is a great place to begin since it's at the very core of all we do. As a wife, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of four grandchildren, I know it takes the work of Christ and the fellowship and encouragement of His followers to keep me focused each day to be all that God intends for me to be. I want to invite you and encourage you to consider joining us at FBC as God works in and through each of us.

In Christ,
Martha

Our Vision

  • To teach women to know God through His Word (Hebrews 6:1)
  • To teach women to depend upon Christ through prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)
  • To equip women to reach beyond the walls of the church and into their communities so that others might come to know Christ (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • To bring women into the fellowship of the church that they might grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 4:12)
  • To minister to women where they are in life (1 Peter 5:2)
  • To encourage and equip women to be Godly wives and mothers (Titus 2:3-5)
What Our Women Are Saying
  • “I am excited to serve on the Women’s Ministry Team because it was the first step for me in making many new friendships! I witnessed ladies serving at a Women’s event laughing and enjoying each other while glorifying God in the process; something I had never been exposed to. Our Women’s Bible Study is a place to grow spiritually and connect with woman of all ages and just be friends!! I didn’t want something this wonderful to pass me by and not be a part of it.” Kim Martin
  • “I serve in the Women’s Ministry through our Wednesday morning Prayer Band each week with joyful anticipation. A special privilege is praying for Martha’s Bible Study the hour before it begins. There is much praise for answered prayers, changed lives and strength to follow God with a servant’s heart wherever He sends me.” Marge Fortman
  • Serving in the Women’s Ministry has brought me many unexpected life-changing blessings. It has been so much more than simply facilitating the teachings of godly women. My walk with Christ has been strengthened by the ladies I’ve met–and now consider friends. It is through their willingness to share experiences and perspectives, that I have found a community that encourages and brightens my days.” Juli Windom
  • “I serve in Women’s Ministry because I love getting to know ladies in all different phases of life. From 20’s to 90’s, every lady has an interesting life experience and viewpoint!” Kathleen Morris
  • “I first connected with Women’s ministry as a young mom when I was asked to teach Girls in Action at my home church. It was here that I found my passion for teaching and developed a heart for missions. When cancer took my husband, I came to FBC to learn how to be a single adult. In over twenty years as a classroom teacher, I had become aware of the struggles of single moms and their children. The Singles Ministry of our church has blessed me with the opportunity to serve these wonderful women. They are challenged on every front and driven by love for their children and our Lord. I am inspired by and grateful for our Single Moms group and the loving church family that supports us.” Robbi Hammett
  • “Becoming an AB Lady has been an answer to many prayers! The night before my Bible Study Class I had told my husband I was going to have to get a part time job because I wasn’t handling retirement well. (I was driving my family crazy being home every day). The next morning Martha asked me if I would like to work in the church office once a month. I said how about twice a week! God has blessed me in so many ways and I am loving it! My prayer, My family’s prayer, and hopefully the ladies in the office have had their prayers answered!” Gloria Pittman
  • “God placed a desire in my heart and lead me to teach a class specifically for Single Moms who are in similar circumstances and struggles that I faced in my own life. It is through my personal testimony about how God has worked in my life and how He continues to reveal himself to me that I can now nurture, encourage, and be a blessing to other fellow Single Moms every week.” Kristen Prestenbach
