Lagniappe: What do we really need?

I know you love the church and want it to progress. And I know you want to be faithful as a servant in the Kingdom of God.

Do you ever ask what that looks like and how you fit in?

Let me give you an idea from my perspective. Jesus told His disciples to “pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest“ Matthew 9:38. He asked His disciples to pray in this way because He said “the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few“ Matthew 9:37.

This has always been the problem with the church as a whole. The harvest has always been plentiful, and the laborers have always been few. That is the exact issue that we face here at First Baptist Church. It takes leaders, workers, and servers – under the direction of the Holy Spirit – to make a church grow and progress.

We need leaders.

At the conclusion of our current sermon series, I will be discussing “the ultimate step – leadership.” Only when we determine to be an answer to the needs of the church, determine to faithfully and dependably lead, only then will there be laborers to reap the harvest.

I am praying now for leaders, for people who will serve humbly and work diligently for the Kingdom of God.

Would you join me in praying for “the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest“?
