If You Gave Your Life Wholly to Christ, What Would Happen?

Rest 600

If you gave your life to Christ, what would happen?

Yesterday, I preached from Isaiah 30. This passage of Scripture speaks about living in relationship with God.

When you live in relationship with God, this is what you can expect.

First, you can expect to receive the direction and guidance of God.

This is exactly what I’ve experienced in my life following after Christ. One of my life verses is Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

God does give direction. He wants us to live our lives in relationship with him. He wants to bless us, direct us, and show us His way.

Second, you can expect quietness and rest.

When many people think of living life in Christ, they think of frenetic activity. They assume they will be consumed with activities in church and in life. Amazingly, God promises rest and quietness. He wants us to trust Him and experience the peace that comes from knowing Him. In another passage of Scripture Isaiah the prophet promised: “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

To live in God is to live in peace and rest.

Third, to live in God is to experience grace, mercy, justice, and kindness.
Above all else God treats us with mercy and goodness. I love to read the last words of Psalm 23: “Surely goodness and mercy will pursue you all the days of your life.” God is pictured as the one who is chasing after us with the intent of bestowing His love and His mercy upon us.

To live in Christ is to experience abundant joy, peace, and hope.
