Welcome to Easter worship!

I want to welcome you to First Baptist Church!

As I often say, “Thank you for attending.  We are glad you are here.”

We recognize what a special day this is.  While many of our regular attenders are visiting family out of town, many of you are guests worshiping with us on this special day.  We truly are happy you are here.

Let me give you an idea of who we are.

First, we are people who emphasize God’s Holy Word.  We believe the Bible and look to it to show us what to believe and how to behave in life.  As much as possible, we want to follow God’s Word and let it be our guide for daily living.

Second, we are a church that is congregationally governed.  We do not have a monarchical leader such as a pope or bishop.  Neither do we have a small group that controls the church.  We look to our fellowship of believers to direct the church under the leadership of biblical leaders.

Third, we believe that salvation comes not from our works but from the work of God.  It is the work of Christ on the cross for our salvation that we celebrate today.  We recognize from Scripture that our salvation is “not a result of works” (Ephesians 2:8-10) but is by the grace of God through faith.  We recognize the necessity of turning from our sin and turning to Christ.

Finally, because of what Christ has done for us, we seek to glorify and praise His holy name.

Please join in with us today as we seek to praise Him and celebrate His resurrection.
