Bill is preaching this weekend while Martha and I are away on sabbatical. So let me introduce you to his role in the ministry of First Baptist Church Covington.
Bill joined the staff in May 2006, having been in student and family ministry since 1993. He and his wife Jill are originally from Meridian, MS and have two college-aged daughters, Halle and Hannah, and one high-school daughter, Harper. His mother, Kay Boren, is also a member of FBCCov. Bill graduated from Mississippi State University, then from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry.
Bill is our Family Life Pastor – allowing him to work with both our Education and Administration Pastoral Teams. These Pastoral teams oversee our Adult Connect groups and our Student Ministries.
Bill is also the Pastor over our PLACE Ministry. This ministry helps our members assess their godly gifts of ministry through: Personality Discovery, Learning Spiritual Gifts, Abilities Awareness, Connecting Passion with Ministry, and Experiences of Life. If you would be interested in finding your gifts through this Equip class, please contact him at bboren@fbccov.org.
Along with the above ministries, Bill is involved with pre-marital and pastoral counseling for those in the church and community. He particularly loves and is involved in our international/overseas ministry in India & Colombia, as well as helping with our English as a Second Language ministry.
Teaching and leadership development are passions for Bill, and he considers it a great privilege for him at FBCCov.
