Let me introduce you to Glynn and his role in the ministry of First Baptist Church Covington. In his sermon this weekend you will hear his passion for A Healthy, Focused, Challenged, and Ready Church.
Glynn joined our staff in April 1997. Glynn grew up in Meridian, MS and his wife Melinda is from Hattiesburg, MS. They have three children. Mollie is married to Chris Hill, and lives in Hattiesburg with their two boys, Cooper and Asher. Mary Landrum lives and works in Baton Rouge. Their son Will lives at home and is blessed to be loved by FBCCOV’s Special Friends Ministry. Glynn is a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Melinda is also part of the FBCCov administrative staff.
As Minister of Missions and Evangelism, Glynn works with both local and international missions to help meet needs and share the Gospel within our community and the world. He has led mission efforts working with missionaries, pastors, and leaders in Guatemala, India, Honduras, Cech Republic, Colombia, and Uganda. Glynn works with our local Disaster Relief leadership, as well as our church Education Staff giving leadership to Adult Connect Groups and Equip classes.
Glynn and Melinda love to travel in their camper, especially to national parks. They can frequently be seen attending college sporting events at their alma mater, USM. If you ask Glynn what his favorite colors are, he will likely smile at you and say, “black and gold.”
Glynn and Melinda enjoy working and serving at First Baptist, but to them it hasn’t just been a place to work. It is a place where they have found deep friendships, genuine love, and a congregation of people who care for one another and have openly displayed that care to them over the years. It is home.
