You’ve probably heard that question already, and you are likely to hear it many times in the coming days. You may find yourself asking others the same question.
What does that mean? Maybe it’s just a greeting, something like, “How are you?” Maybe people are asking, “Have you gotten everything ready for this special time?”
Whatever is meant by that question, we certainly should be asking ourselves the same thing. Am I ready for Christmas? Am I ready to worship the King of kings and think again about what God has done?
Let me give you some ways to get ready for Christmas.
FIRST, look to Scripture. Read Matthew 1-2 and Luke 1-2. Read the Old Testament prophecies about the coming of Christ into the world. Some of the many passages are Micah 5:2-4, Isaiah 7:10-17, 9:1-7, and 11:1-9. Make time to reflect on these passages. Also, read some of the passages that show what it meant for God to send His Son into the world. I would suggest Galatians 4:1-7 and Philippians 2:1-12.
SECOND, set apart times to worship with the people of God. Make the Lord’s Day a time to give worship and adoration to God. Worship with us for Christmas Eve at 1:00, 3:00, or 5:00 PM. The music and joy of that special time is truly a blessing.
THIRD, slow down. There is a reason why Scripture tells us to “Be still and know that I am God.” We need to allow ourselves to spend time with God and see His great work of the past and His promises for the future.
I pray that God will truly bless you and that you will get ready for Christmas.
